A FICTIONAL MONA LISA MOVIE

This has been on my radar for quite some time. I contacted them last year to see if I could interview someone or at least offer technical assistance. I emailed them today and will be calling later. Let's see where it goes. Various films on the Reit book have been in the works since 1980 and nothing's ever come of it.  Will this one fare better?

NO TIME TO BLOG MUST WORK

I'm slaving away trying to boil all this material down into a 5-8 minute trailer that makes sense and is compelling. So that doesn't leave much time for me to come here and do anything other than whine about not having enough time to blog.  Anyway....  Is there anyone out there reading this anyhow?  And if there is, what would you like to know, see or say?  And by the way, check out our advertisers.  It's a way to help fund the film. So far, this month, we've made .01. :]

PIECING TOGETHER THE TRAILER

Spent all day yesterday writing a narration and finding sound bites for the trailer. I'm walking the fine line between telling too much of the story and not telling enough.

THIS CLOSE

I am close, really close to having screened every minute of the hundreds of hours of footage we've shot so far.  I should be done by tomorrow -- Saturday at the latest. That means I can start building an 8-minute trailer that I'll use to help raise funds to finish the film.

I'm six weeks behind schedule if you count the February 28th deadline I gave myself last October. But I'm two weeks ahead of schedule if you count the April 30th deadline I gave myself last month.

SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH

I set up google alerts to email me whenever Vincenzo Peruggia is mentioned anywhere anytime. It doesn't work that well.  Usually I get notices that some guy named Vincenzo did something stupid in Perugia, Italy. But the other day, I got this alert:

SOMEONE IS DOING A DOCUMENTARY ON THE MONA LISA?!!!!  My heart jumped into my throat and lodged there for a minute as the last year of work on the film flashed before my eyes. I thought "Somebody is beating us to it."

Then I clicked on the link.

It was about us. Someone picked up the article ARTNEWS did on our film. Whew. Who needs the competition?

NEW VANITY FAIR ARTICLE

There's a new article in this month's Vanity Fair about the theft. It's actually an excerpt from the book "The Crimes of Paris" by Dorothy and Thomas Hoobler. I spoke to the Hooblers last week before I even knew there was going to be an article. They've agreed to an interview. We'll probably do it something in June. There seems to be more interest these days in the ML theft. That's good news for us since we probably know more about it than anyone.
